Evening of the Starz 2022

Join us on June 2nd for a unique evening dedicated to raising funds for all those in our community affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. We will celebrate the strides we've made in research in the past few years, as we move one step closer to fulfilling our mission. This event will bring together hundreds of community members, business leaders and caregivers to honor the lives of loved ones with Alzheimer's while raising funds to support education, research, programs, and advocacy efforts in Nebraska. Attendees will enjoy a delicious summer meal, uplifting program, a live auction, and entertainment by Billy McGuigan and the Downliners, dedicated to people in our community on a journey with Alzheimer's - memories to cherish for a lifetime. 

This will be the inaugural Evening of the Starz event - raising funds to underwrite the Alzheimer's Association's support, education, advocacy, and research efforts. Join our ALZ Impact Award winners, and event chairs, Paul and Lori Hogan for this heartwarming and impactful event.

Our Honorees, Paul and Lori Hogan, founders of Home Instead (1994) will be awarded the inaugural 2022 ALZ Starz Impact Award during this year's event. Please join us in congratulating them!

Simply put, Billy McGuigan presents a non-stop, high energy, rock and roll extravaganza! You'll have the chance to hear your favorite rock songs played with the energy and enthusiasm that these classic gems deserve. Billy and his dynamic band will take you on a journey from the 50s rock and roll of Elvis, Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers, to the psychedelic 60s of the Rolling Stones, The Beatles and a string of one-hit wonders. Billy and his amazing band also capture the sounds of the 70s with Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and the piano men - Billy and Elton. From American Rock to British Invasion and everything in-between, Billy McGuigan has the unique ability to take on the personality of the audience, making each performance a one of a kind!

Kurt Owens, Emcee for the Evening of the Starz 2022

Kurt has been a part of Star 104.5 since its beginning in the late 90s. Not only does he get to play great variety of music from the 80s, 90s and now every afternoon from 2 to 7, but as Program Director he also gets to work with the entire Star 104.5 staff. Over the years, Kurt has done just about every job at a radio station from being an overnight jock who took out the trash, to writing and producing award winning commercials.

Originally from north central Iowa, Kurt has lived in Omaha for over 30 years and now calls Omaha his home.  His wife is a scrappy "South O" native and kids attended Papillion/La Vista and Millard schools.  He currently makes his home in Millard is always up for a few beers with neighbors around the fire pit.

He is most proud of the impact Star 104.5 has had on the community with support of many worthwhile organizations including The March of Dimes, American Heart Association, Komen Nebraska and especially the Adopt a Family program for the Salvation Army.  Kurt and mentor Tom Land helped to create that program in 2000.
